Tuesday, July 1, 2025 National Development Corporation Inaugurates Construction of Shaflogh Dam in Uruzgan

The construction of the Shaflogh Dam in Chinarto District of Uruzgan Province was officially inaugurated during a ceremony attended by senior officials from the National Development Corporation (NDC), the Ministry of Water and Energy, local authorities, religious scholars, and tribal elders.

Speaking at the event, Mawlawi Abdul Wali Adel, Deputy Director for Finance and Administration at the NDC, stated that it is the duty of government officials to serve the people across all sectors and to ensure their well-being.

He emphasized the importance of water regulation and management, noting that the NDC remains committed to implementing further infrastructure projects that support sustainable development.

Meanwhile, Acting Minister of Water and Energy, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s commitment to addressing the needs and concerns of the Afghan people. He underscored that the construction of the Shaflogh Dam will provide significant benefits to local communities and will be carried out in accordance with high technical standards.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Uruzgan Governor Mawlawi Enayatullah Shuja stressed the critical responsibility that Afghans bear during this pivotal time in the nation’s history, calling on all citizens to actively contribute to the reconstruction and development of the country.

According to officials, the project is estimated to cost 165 million Afghanis. The dam will stand 23 meters high and span 77.25 meters in width, with a storage capacity of 0.85 million cubic meters of water. Once completed, it will irrigate up to 259 hectares of agricultural land.

The project is being implemented by the National Development Corporation (NDC), with funding provided by the Ministry of Water and Energy.
